Health and Wellness

I am a firm believer in balance, but most diets lack a component that our bodies require in order to function at an optimum level.

I personally feel that some of us need a little "push" now and again to get started, and I am not opposed to a short-term "diet" to facilitate the weight loss. However, balance always seems to be the winner in a long-term goal.

Carbohydrates, Fats and Proteins are the three (3) main ingredients necessary in proper body function. We must stay strong and make good choices for this to be evident in the outcome.

Most people struggle with the "good choices," examples such as: "I like my glass of wine at night to help me relax," or "I need that beer after a hard day," or "Chocolate before bed helps me sleep." These are just a few of the excuses I hear everyday (including the ones in my own head).

My advice to those looking to lose weight for a short-term goal (wedding, reunion, etc) would be to BE STRONG and GET TOUGH! You can do it!
For those of us that yo-yo up and down with the stresses of life, be fair to your body and listen to what you NEED, not what you THINK you need.

Keeping healthy is the most important goal! Achieving that goal is as important as creating and maintaining a family budget.

Get out your calendar and schedule 4 workouts a week. Yes, you may have to wake up half an hour early to accomplish it, but the positive outweighs the negative.
You should incorporate at least two (2) cardio workouts (running, walking, jogging, swimming, cycling) and at least two (2) strength-training workouts (Pilates, weight lifting, or super fit classes). Additional exercise such as yoga or stretching are a bonus!

Food is 90% of your health care. Limit fat intake, unless its healthy fat.  Limit the amount of white bread/pasta/rice. Add more salads to your menu and TAKE OUT SUGAR !
